The Friends of the Hartshorne Library held their Annual General Meeting on Sunday September 18. We had a fairly good turnout. It was the consensus of the group that in light of the ongoing expansion project we keep the currant officers. These are Chairman, Virginia Barlow, Vice-chairman, Jim Kurilkko, Secretary, Cathryn Tucker, and Treasurer, Shirley McBee. We went over our financial status and discussed further expenses.
Our guest this year was Lois Edington. She is a native of Hartshorne and has written a book about the Butterfield stage route, entitled ‘Westward Ho’. She told some anecdotes from the book. The book is available at the Hartshorne library if anyone is interested in reading it. She hinted at writing another book at a later date.
